Gold Coast

Exploring the world's most Romantic Destinations!

With our unique flora and fauna, incredible coastline, verdant rainforests, stark deserts and striking wilderness, Australian ecotourism is booming. Spending a short break at an eco retreat is an ideal way to get back to nature and learn about your beloved on a romantic getaway. Here are some fabulous eco resorts for that perfect couples holiday.

A great destination for a romantic getaway to the sun (especially if you’re spending winter in the southern states!) has to be the Gold Coast. Beginning 80kms to the south of the Queensland capital Brisbane and continuing down to laidback Coolangatta, this is a quintessential slice of Aussie beach life sun kissed, stunning and ideal for a couple’s holiday.

Surfers Paradise is the most iconic beachside community on the Gold Coast and if you decide to visit you’ll soon see why it’s become such as tourist hotspot. Blessed with a golden, sandy beach and great waves there are heaps of holiday apartments and hotel accommodation for all budgets. Surfers Paradise is also party central with restaurants featuring a wide range of cuisines as well as dozens of bars and nightclubs to keep you dancing after dark.

But the Gold Coast isn’t all glitz and noise, and if you’re looking for somewhere a little more intimate, with a slower pace and a bit of class, then maybe you should check out Broadbeach accommodation. Broadbeach is the more sophisticated sister of brash Surfers Paradise and, as a result, attracts less of the schoolies and teenage crowd much more conducive to a short break with a special someone! There are some excellent restaurants and cafes along Surf Parade and Albert Ave and for those in search of a luxury getaway there is also some stylish holiday accommodation with the 5 star Peppers Broadbeach, Jupiter’s Hotel and Casino and Sofitel Gold Coast, all in the vicinity. If you’re not worried about exclusive or boutique accommodation, then there are also plenty of serviced apartments both overlooking the ocean and just a block back from the brilliant blue water.

However, swish Broadbeach isn’t the only option for a weekend away with a loved one. All the beaches stretching between Coolangatta and Currumbin have enviably golden sands and there are some wonderful apartments and holiday rentals just for 2. Burleigh Heads lies next to the gorgeous Burleigh Heads National Park and has a lovely, gently curving beach that has great views of nearby Surfers Paradise as well as some fabulous surf, if you feel like being energetic. Main Beach is another Gold Coast holiday spot for foodies with Tedder Avenue a magnet for those who like good coffee and great food – definitely worth investigating for a romantic dinner.

And whilst the Gold Coast itself certainly has plenty of places perfect for romantic escapes and a few days of rest and relaxation with the one you love, the attractions of this part of Queensland don’t just stop at sun, sea and sand. Head inland away from the high-rise holiday apartments and luxury resorts and you’ll find a whole new bred of romantic getaways in the beautiful Gold Coast hinterland where exclusive cottages, luxury Bed and Breakfast hotels and swish lifestyle resorts dot the lush tropical hillsides. We will say more about this up and coming side of the Gold Coast elsewhere on our website, so look out for that.

So as you can see, the Gold Coast isn’t just for families and teenagers – it also has plenty to entice couples on romantic breaks.
